Circular No. SEBI/HO/MIRSD/MIRSD-POD-1/P/CIR/2024/120, Dated: 13.09.2024
With the growing interest in the securities market, SEBI recognised the need for a mechanism to help investors verify that the fees are being paid to a registered Investment Adviser (IA) or Research Analyst (RA). In order to create a closed and transparent payment ecosystem, SEBI has introduced a ‘Centralized Fee Collection Mechanism for IA and RA’ to facilitate the collection of fees from their clients.
The mechanism has been co-created by BSE Limited with the help of other stakeholders. BSE Limited shall specify the operational framework for the mechanism on or before September 23, 2024, and make the mechanism operational from October 01, 2024.
Under this mechanism, clients shall pay fees to IAs/RAs through a designated platform/portal administered by a recognised Administration and Supervisory Body (ASB).
Though the mechanism is optional, ASB, in the interest of investors, must take steps to encourage clients and the registered IAs and RAs to avail of the services of this mechanism.
